Collaboration not Competition
We love to collab with other cleaners in our area. We believe that competition happens at the bottom, the people at the top are collaborating.
Working with community in mind we have an amazing supportive professional cleaners group on social media that brings local cleaners together. Whether they are solo or a company, we pass each other work. We also use each others services that we don’t provide and support each other with other aspects of business. If you’re a professional cleaner who would like to join our network click here.
The group was created by Helen Salter of Count on her. I am blessed to have built a friendship where we meet up for coffee every now and then to ‘chew the fat’.
As a commercial cleaning business, it’s amazing to have trusted domestic cleaners to recommend to clients when they ask. We get lots of enquiries for domestic cleaning services. As this is a service which we don’t provide, other than carpet and upholstery cleaning.
I have a busy, 5 person household. Three children and two dogs, so keeping on top of it all without spending my whole weekend doing house chores has been a challenge. Helen is the same with a busy household of 4. When you’re on the tools all week, the last thing you want to do is spend your time off doing the same.
We were talking about this at our last coffee meet up, surprisingly we’ve been doing the same, so here are some tips;
- Micro cleaning (as we’ve christened it) I have small caddy’s around the house. For example, I have one under my bath, so instead of doing a full clean at the weekend (or even longer) I have all the equipment there ready to grab. If the sink needs a quick clean from messy teenage teeth brushing, quick spray and sponge. If the shower is looking in need of a clean, I’ll spray it up 10 minutes before my shower. This gives it time to dwell and I sponge it down when I get in.
- Squidge – I have ensured the whole family is trained to use the squidge on the shower screen after every use. This keeps it limescale free for longer, so when it does need cleaning, it doesn’t take as long.
- Helen swears by rinsing down the bath after every use. This prevents soap scum sticking to the sides and will save you hours of cleaning!
- A few years ago, Helen invested in a robot vacuum for her downstairs flooring. She has praised how much this has helped her keep on top of daily crumbs.
- One tip she gave me on dusting was to use socks to quickly give surfaces a dust before they go in the wash which we both found very amusing!
We even discussed avoiding certain fixtures and fitting around the home. An example is translucent glass light shades in kitchen area that will show every speck of dust and grease. Opt for frosted or opaque instead and you’ll never look back.
These are only a handful of ways to help keep on top of your home. We hope they help you as much as they do us.
